Gods Chosen Appendix- Vityla

Vityla or Magic Users is sort of a misnomer. With a few exceptions (mainly those that are Rooqayla or Bolyla), everyone is capable of using vit or magic. That isn’t to say, however, that two Vityla given equal training will be equally powerful. Far from it. For starters, Vityla is a title given to those who either have the talent and/or the training to fully understand the concepts behind vit. On top of that there are some races who have focused on developing their vit capabilities far more than others, and thus tend to produce Vityla far more powerful than the other races, especially the ones that have forsaken vit.

Vit works by the Vityla channeling energy from a parallel plane of existence into this world to do work. Now almost ninety percent of all combat vit is either going to be elemental in nature or force vit, and there is a very good reason for this. There are very few exceptions for what one can accomplish with vit. In theory anything can be accomplished with vit given a strong enough Vityla (both in mental strength and in capability) and given enough time. Making the energy do work for the Vityla requires that they shape how the vit energy is to be used as they are gathering the energy. The more complex the spell, the more time and energy is required to do it correctly. And really complex spells are very difficult to do on the fly.

Think of it like this. With elemental vit it’s like trying to draw a line on a piece of paper. Some can do it far better than others, but just drawing a line is really easy to do, even if there are a lot of distractions making it harder to draw that line very well. A shaky line is still a line. But with more complex spells, it’d be like trying to draw a portrait. Given plenty of time and no stress a complex spell is going to be far more effective and potent than a simple elemental or force spell. However, trying to draw a portrait while under a lot of constraints is far more difficult. After all, how many people can manage to maintain a proper focus on the sixteen different components of a spell while also trying to avoid getting hit with a sword or someone else’s spells.

Thus combat vit is almost exclusively who can manage the elemental mastery the best. In other aspects, especially in cities where people can be commissioned to spend potentially weeks if not months perfecting the spell before casting it, far more complex vit can be located. And with this comes a far more elaborate assortment of what vit will be seen doing. Elemental vit has little place in the inner cities, instead people showcase all the potential Vityla can produce. At the same time it also means that trying to sneak into a very wealthy individual’s home can be extremely dangerous without first ascertaining what defenses have been put up. For after all, there is no limit to the imagination of how to defend one’s stuff from being stolen.
